The hike from Mowich Lake to Tolmie Peak Lookout
Dad was on the road at 5:30AM (Aug 1st). Stopped at Safeway in Bonney Lake for bug repellant. I was stopped at a logging operation that was pulling choked logs over the road. I stopped to take a sunrise photo of Rainier and spotted a herd of thirteen elk. They crossed the road about 200 feet in front of the car. I was first out on the trail and the bugs were minimal. The weather was beautiful. I returned to the car at 12:30PM.

There was a herd of 13. Only one had horns.
Mother and twins stopped to examine my car before bolting across the road.
