| The trailhead is reached by taking the Alpental exit off I90, turning under the freeway, then take the immediate RH turn to the parking lot. The Volvo nearly over heated going up the pass. We were nine hikers. A great day. We left the parking lot at 4:20pm. Long switchbacks through a cool forest. The final third of the trail is above the tree line. We had good views of Snoqualmie Peak and Guye Peak. We crossed an avalanche field with all of the trees it carried away lying at it's base. We returned to our cars without needing flashlights. Bill provided cool libations at the tail head. |
