Bainbridge Island and Pike Place Market

March 3rd, 2008

We rose early Sunday morning and headed for the Seattle waterfront. Walked on the 10:10 ferry to Bainbridge Island. We wanted to have the French Toast at Cafe Nola after seeing the place on the Food Network. Parking the car near the market we walked the waterfront. After purchasing $6.50 tickets we walked over to Pioneer Square. Dad was nervous around the bums so we headed back. The ferry ride was about 40 minutes. From the Winslow dock to Cafe Nola was only about half a mile. The cafe was packed and we didn't have a reservation. They seated us quickly though and Cyd ordered the French Toast. I ordered the Fish and Chips. The vegetable filled Bloody Marys were quite tart. Our food was very tasty. We walked the street shops but didn't stay long. After leaving the ferry back in Seattle we climbed the 108 steps up to the market and walked the Post Alley street where Lacey and Nathan had their engagement photos taken. One of the walls was cover with chewing gum. Before returning to the car we stopped into the Metskers Map store and tried to get doughnuts at the Dahlia bakery. They stopped serving them after 11:00am.
